How it works
Either pay a day-use fee ($6) or become a member ($50-$100 sliding scale or volunteer six hours). This gives you access to our tools and advice from our volunteer mechanics. We have an inventory of used parts and basic new parts for sale, or you can enter our digging rights program.
Adult Membership
Your membership is good for 1 year. You can buy it for $50 or earn it with 6 hours of volunteering. You can drop in for a day use for $6. Membership gives you access to our tools and help from our mechanics during open hours only. The Bike Kitchen expects everyone to respect the space and the volunteers and has the right to refuse access to those who do not regardless of their membership status.
Youth Membership
Those under the age of 18 have access to free membership until they turn 18 years old. You must show some proof of age such as a school ID. Any youth under 14 will require an adult 18 or over to be responsible for them if they are in the shop during any regular or class hours. Find out more about youth membership.
WTF: Women / Trans* / Femme
WTF night offers women, trans* & femme specific hours to provide a safe and supportive learning environment. We encourage WTF folks of all skill levels to experiment and explore while learning bike mechanics and maintenance in a comfortable atmosphere. Come experience the satisfaction and joy of building, fixing or souping up your own bike; experienced WTF mechanics are available to lend guidance as needed. WTF is every 2nd and 4th Monday evening from 6:30-9pm.
Women Trans* Femme (WTF) hours are open to anyone who identifies as female, transgender, femme, genderqueer, trans-masculine, trans-feminine, or feels that their socialization or treatment as a woman, transperson*, femme has impeded their participation in bicycle mechanics.

Digging Rights
Using a frame and parts from our used inventory, you can build your own bike with the help of our volunteer mechanics. Digging rights can be purchased ($40) or earned through volunteering (six additional hours). While actively building your bike, you can store it at the Bike Kitchen. This program is open only to Bike Kitchen members.
Please remember that storing your project with us does not guarantee it’s safety and the Bike Kitchen is not responsible for your bike. If you leave your bike hanging at the shop, please remember to put a tag on it with your name, phone number and date. You must continue working on it within every 2 week period.
